10 Best Ways To Relax After a Stressful Day

12:18:00 PM

It is still the summer holidays, and we are all probably really relaxed and enjoying yourself, but even if it is summertime, some days can still be a bit hard and stressful, so in today's post I wanted to share with you my favorite ways to relax and wind down.

Have a relaxing bath

I am pretty sure there is no better feeling in the world than getting into a relaxing warm bath after a stressful day. A long soak in a hot bubble bath will instantly make you feel good. I really think this is one the most effective ways to relax and also pamper yourself. When you get out of it, you will feel so fresh and all of the day's worries will go away.

Read

If you want my advice, the loveliest way to wind down after a hard day is to grab a good book and get cozy. Reading makes me feel like I am in my own little world, it keeps my mind active and distracted and it is such a nice little escape. Getting into the storyline of the characters will have you entertained and you will forget about the stress and the worrying before you know it.

Drink tea

There's nothing as refreshing and relaxing as a cup of tea. It is my favorite hot drink by a long way and I drink it almost every day and I always look forward to it. Tea will relax your muscles and I can't tell you how many times, I have actually felt really better after drinking it. There really is nothing that a good cup of tea can't fix.

Watch a movie/Catch up on youtube

My favorite thing to do in the evening, not just after a bad day, but all the time really. I love catching up on my favorite youtube videos, because whenever I put them on they make me laugh and smile and I forget whatever was going on during the day. Also, watching a movie or your favorite TV shows is just as amazing and relaxing and it always fixes a problem or let's me not think about it for awhile. Also, if you ever need a feel good TV show I recommend Friends, Gossip Girl or PLL. And if you need more inspiration you can check out a post I made a while ago ( Top 30 Tv Shows To Binge Watch )

Do some coloring

This is something I recently started doing and it is so relaxing as well as fun. It reminds me of the childhood days when I used to color and paint all the time, and I am really happy I got into it again.

Also, there are very fun coloring books for adults which I have seen all over pinterest and youtube and they really are amazing. The most popular ones are from Johanna Basford and I love her ' The secret garden' one. There are lots of detailed and quite complicated pictures which take up a lot of time to finish, and they are so good for letting your mind wander.

Bake!

I really love baking and is there anything better than treating yourself to a delicious cupcake that you made after a stressful day? You do not have to bake something magnificent or really professional, you can just try out some simple cookies or a chocolate cake. The whole baking process is really fun and the even better part is when the cookies are fresh out of the oven and you get to enjoy them. So, if you are not feeling so great, try baking something and you will surely feel a bit better.

Write in a diary or a journal

I find writing in a journal very therapeutic and very helpful after a long day filled with stress. Writing down your thoughts and feelings is guaranteed to make you feel better as you will let it all out and have it easier to deal with everything.

Talk it out

If you are not the type of person to write your problems in a journal, just talk it out with someone and it will surely make you feel even a bit better. They will give you advice and if you are feeling down about something, it is best to share it with someone close to you, and even if you don't listen to their advice, just venting for a bit can be so beneficial.

Get a takeaway

I am pretty sure the last thing you want to do when you're feeling a bit stressed is to cook or prepare a full meal. So what I like to do is to simply get a takeaway. You know as they say, pizza doesn't ask silly questions, pizza understands.

Get a long, good night's sleep

And finally my advice for getting through a stressful day is to just sleep it out. We all find day to day life a lot harder if we haven't had our 8 hours sleep. Make an effort not to go on social media before you go to bed, maybe put on some relaxing music in the background and you are ready for the best rest, and you'll find it easier to face the next day.

Those would be my tips for getting through stressful days and just remember it is completely normal to feel like that sometimes. What are your best tips for relaxing? Love, M xx
